A clever yet disturbing character study, Axiom is a fascinating exploration of identity and social behaviour.
Julius (a stand-out Moritz Treuenfels, The Royal Game) is an eloquent, charming museum attendant who is loved by those around him and impresses with his seemingly cultured and articulate persona.
One day he invites his colleagues to join him on a sailing trip on his family boat. But even before the group hops on board, serious cracks appear. As the day unfolds, Julius becomes more ambiguous and little by little it is revealed that Julius is not who he seems to be. Friend or foe, what drives his actions and will he destroy the construct of lies around his identity?
Exploring a young man's compulsion to self-invent in a society ruled by the cult of success and self-presentation, Jöns Jönsson’s second feature Axiom is an eerie and intense psychological drama that poses the question of how far one should go in the longing for another life.
